ORIGO Thailand has been working closely with the Institute for the Promotion of Teaching Science and Technology (IPST) to develop a national mathematics program that aligns with the new national curriculum. ORIGO is working with IPST to deliver the professional learning modules this year and to make mathematics curriculum materials available for the 2017 school year.
From the received feedback, it is evident that the Professional Learning day held on Wednesday, 7th of February at The National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA) in Thailand was a positive experience. Rosemary Irons and Dr. Calvin Irons planned and facilitated the workshop on ‘The beginning Processes’ which was interactive, informative, and left Thai Government eager to learn more. ORIGO Education senior author, Rosemary Irons spent the morning working with Kindergarten teachers, school owners, and lecturers from the University. She started with the beginning processes which is an important foundation for many mathematical concepts. In the afternoon, Dr. Calvin introduced measurement concepts by utilizing lots of tools and resources. The Kindergarten teachers appreciated the idea of group work because it allowed them a chance to meet and discuss the topic with their colleagues. Moreover, The Education Manager from the Australian Embassy attended the PL session and learned about ORIGO Education. She said she wanted to work with us in the near future. We look forward to this opportunity.
